Raising Coconut as the Major Export Crop of the Country within the Next Two Years
A discussion under above theme was held at the ‘Sethsiripaya’ on September 28, 2021 with the participation of Hon. Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Hon. State Minister, Arundika Fernando, Ministerial Delegation and CRI staff led by Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma, Chairman of CRB. At this special discussion, key policy decisions were taken and result-oriented proposals on development programs aimed at increasing coconut and allied export products using one Billion additional nuts within the next two years. Among the proposals, there were short, middle and long term strategies required for ranking the coconut as the number one export crop of the country. In line with the vision “Soubagaye Dakma, of His Excellency President, Gotabaya Rajapaksha, all participants unanimously showed their commitment on this endeavor that definitely ensures the betterment of the nation by taking several historical decisions as summarized follows.
