Diplomatic Mission of Cuban Ambassador Hon. Andres Marcelo Garrido to CRI
The Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Hon.Andres Marcelo Garrido visited the Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka on September 5, 2024. The ambassador exchanged his ideas with the CRI Chairman, Director, Deputy Directors and Divisional Heads. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of co-operation between the Coconut Research Institute in Sri Lanka and the Cuban Agroforestry Research Institute.
This diplomatic mission confirmed that both nations are greatly interested in developing a collaboration in this way. As per the request of previous visit of Cuban Ambassador, CRI has already donated 200 coconut hybrid seeds to Cuba to develop its coconut industry in the Caribbean Islands. CRI wishes to continue its cooperation with Cuba in the future, for the sake of the development of the coconut industry of both countries and to conduct skill development programs for the technical officers in both countries.
Hon.Andres Marcelo Garrido, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Sri Lanka, First Secretary of the Cuban mission to Sri Lanka Maribel Duarte González, Mr. Arosha Rodrigo – Chairman, Coconut Research Board, Dr Nayanie Aratchchige – Director, CRI, Dr Sarath Idirisingha – Deputy Director (Research), CRI and Heads of Divisions participated for the event.
